The Spinning the Web Network has announced the opening of its latest project, the SD Job Bank. The bank, a new resource for employers and job-seekers in the field of sustainable development, is available free of charge in English, French and Spanish. It can be found on the SD Gateway, which integrates sustainable development information for decision-makers. Employers can advertise positions for free and can reach professionals in the field. UNEP Source-book
This June, the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) launched its Guide to Environment and Development Sources of Information to assist users in locating relevant information sources on environment and sustainable development. Available on CD-ROM and the Internet, it is the result of collaboration between UNEP and the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) at the University of Sussex, UK. The Guide is the latest publication by UNEP's global environmental information exchange network, INFOTERRA, targeted toward librarians, document specialists, database developers, thesaurus developers, terminologists, GIS specialists, translators, interpreters and environment and development information specialists. Among the many products launched at the Aarhus Environmental Ministers' Conference in June was a CD-ROM by UNEP/GRID entitled State of the Environment Reports Sampler. The CD contains a selection of items related to the state of the environment in CEE and the NIS, including 14 national state of the environment reports, UNEP's Global Environment Outlook (GEO 1) report and some 150 environmental graphs on various subjects. The release also includes the Cookbook for state of the environment reporting on the Internet which assists in the development of electronic environmental status reports.
