The Bulletin
A quarterly of the Regional Environmental Center
for Central and Eastern Europe (REC)

THE BULLETIN is the quarterly newsletter of the Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe. THE BULLETIN assists the REC to fulfill its mission, namely to promote public participation in environmental decisionmaking by providing information on the environment and encouraging cooperation among Regional stakeholders. By supporting environmental nongovernmental organizations, local authorities, national governments, academic institutions, the media and businesses in 15 Central and Eastern European countries, the REC hopes to act as a catalyst for developing solutions to environmental problems and to promote the development of civil society in the Region.

The REC is an independent, not-for-profit, regional organization devoted to the improvement of the environment in Central and Eastern Europe. The REC was established in 1990 by the United States, Hungary and the Commission of the European Communities. Today, eight additional countries support the REC, including Austria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway and Switzerland.

Beneficiary countries are Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, FYR Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and FR Yugoslavia.
