Sustainable Methods of Preventing Floods
An international conference is planned for the beginning of November 1997 entitled "Sustainable Methods of Preventing Floods". To be organized by Polish NGOs the "Foundation of Ecological Culture" and the "Foundation of Olawa and Nysa Klodzka", the event will be attended by Czech, German, Polish and Slovakian experts and NGO representatives. Funding for the conference was made possible through an emergency award of USD 4,470 from the Black Triangle Grants Programme, which is sponsored by the European Union's Phare Multi-Country Programme for the Environment and administered by the REC's Czech and Polish Local Offices.
