Getting noticed is as important to success in the public sector as it is to any commercial company. If people don't know about an organization, it will be impossible for its members to achieve their goals. For environmental NGOs, a bit of self-promotion will not only provide information and raise awareness about key issues, but also will help them build allies in their communities, recruit new members and volunteers, and will help considerably with fundraising.
As the REC's mission is to provide public access to environmental information and support environmental problem solving by promoting networking and cooperation among NGOs, businesses, governments and other stakeholders, the Center is keen to help get the word out about activities of environmental NGOs. Therefore, the REC announces a time-limited free banner-advertisement program on its World Wide Web sites.
The REC will display banner ads both on its main home page http://www.rec.org (now featuring daily environmental news).
The free banner-advertisement offer is open to any environmental nongovernmental organizations or other environment-oriented non-profit institutions.
In addition to the free banner-advertising, there are a number of opportunities for cross-posting information about your organization and activities. General information can be entered into the REC's online Environmental Directory http://www.rec.org/REC/Databases/EnviroDirectory, and upon request can be included as a starting point for indexing by the EnviroPhantom providing even more exposure for your activities. If you are also organizing or hosting an environmental event, information about it can be included in our Calendar of Events. Any environmental news or announcements are also welcome on our home page and indexed under the Daily Environmental News service.
For nongovernmental organizations from Central and Eastern Europe, the REC also offers the possibility to establish their own Internet presence free of charge through its Internet servers. Please contact Rossen Roussev for more information or see a list of NGOs currently 'renting' WebSpace at REC on our home page.
Ad banners should be in the form of a GIF or JPEG image and measure 468 pixels wide by 60 pixels deep. An URL to be linked with your banner should be submitted as well.
Requests including brief organization background and activities should be submitted to Rossen Roussev at the address above.
