programme online The Regional Environmental Reconstruction Programme (REReP)is the environmental component of the Stability Pact, the European Union's programme to get the countries of South Eastern Europe back on their feet after nearly a decade of warfare. The REReP initiative was shaped by the countries of South Eastern Europe themselves. Information about the programme and the progress of its various projects is available at www.rec.org/REC/Programs/REREP/Default.html. This page contains links to REReP project web sites and the REReP projects' database. You may search for projects in the database by priority area, beneficiary country or by entering words from the projects' titles. For each of the 53 projects, the database provides timelines, funding, lead and participating countries, objectives and activities. A list that includes the projects and many other related projects can be also downloaded from the web site. The REReP web site gives the reader information on the mandate of the programme, and members and activities of the task force for implementation. Activities and decisions of the task force are presented in the outcome documents of its meetings. More information about the task force and its meetings as well other REReP data can be found. Balkan Bytes: environment, NGOs and Internet The "Balkan Bytes" website focuses on online information exchange and cooperation between environmental NGOs in the countries of South Eastern Europe. Besides general project information one can read about the many ways in which electronic networking helps environmental NGOs join forces to improve their communications activities. Examples for these activities include campaigns, action alerts, training programmes, joint projects, network websites, hardware donations and much more. The website features the full text of a publication titled "Networks at Work," reviewing the current status and needs of electronic networking in all South Eastern European countries. The site may be found at www.rec.org/REC/Programs/SEE_Networking/. Environmental events onLine The REC's Environmental Events Database was recently updated to cover the calendar through August 2003.
